Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia have provided an injury update on three key players ahead of the new SportPesa League 2026/27 season.

Team doctor Brian Odongo delivered encouraging news on the trio of Lawrence Juma, Sylvester Owino and Felix Oluoch, who have made significant strides in their recovery from injury.

Speaking to the club’s media team, Odongo revealed that Lawrence Juma, who sustained an arm injury during the Super Cup match against Tusker, has resumed full training.

“Lawrence has resumed training after staying away with an arm injury. He is currently undergoing reintegration into football-specific activities,” stated the team doctor.

The outlook is equally promising for defender Sylvester Owino, who was sidelined by an injury shortly before the team competed in the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda.

According to the team doctor, the defender is progressing steadily in his recovery.

“Sylvester is recovering well from his calf injury as he continues with his rehabilitation programme and progresses to higher-intensity activities towards regaining full functional performance,” he added.

There is also encouraging news regarding striker Oluoch, who has been out of action for an extended period following knee surgery.

Odongo confirmed that the forward is nearing a return to full fitness.

“Felix is in the final phase of rehabilitation following knee surgery. He has progressed to sports-specific training and football-functional exercises,” he said.

The return of the trio will come as a welcome boost to the coaching staff as Gor Mahia look to bolster their squad depth for the challenges ahead.

Having already been bundled out of the CAF Champions League, K’Ogalo will now shift their full attention to the domestic league, where they will be chasing back-to-back titles in pursuit of a record-extending 23rd crown, while also seeking a ticket back to continental competition.

Gor Mahia will open their title defence on Tuesday, October 13, when they host Murang’a SEAL in an all-SportPesa-sponsored clash under the lights at Nyayo National Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7pm EAT.
